What is Train to Gain
Train to Gain will help your organisation improve its workforce skills and business performance. It provides free and subsidised training at a time and place that suits you.
Background
It is anticipated that 300,000 workers will achieve Level 2 qualifications through Train to Gain. Research shows that 1.3 million people go to work every day without the skills they require to do their job proficiently.
The effect on British industry, in both the public and private sector, is astounding. The Government believes that Britain does not compete with Continental Europe as well as it should.
It is estimated that more than 7 million adults in England cannot read, write or count to a basic standard and almost a third of our working population do not have a Level 2 qualification.
Furthermore, 40% of employees working in local authorities do not have a Level 2 Maths qualification. In response to the needs of employers, Train to Gain has been launched to enable local authorities to compete more effectively.
Through the funding of Level 2 qualifications and Essential Skills, employers have recognised the benefits for their business:
